At amazee.io, we’ve always believed that open source isn’t just a license, but a commitment to community. From our roots as a Drupal-focused web development team to becoming a global leader in application hosting, Drupal has always been a part of our DNA. So it’s no surprise that we’re proud to support and scale one of its most exciting new frontiers: The Strategic Drupal AI Initiative.
Our journey with Drupal AI began the way many great open source stories do—at a DrupalCon. What began as an experiment quickly evolved into a bigger vision: to make Drupal not just AI-compatible but truly AI-native.
Over the past year, Drupal AI has matured into a full framework with multiple AI provider integrations. This allows developers and content editors to plug in their favorite models and start working, with no custom integration required. Now, with the backing of Dries Buytaert and the Drupal Association, Drupal AI is well on its way to becoming an official strategic initiative.
So why should Drupal go all-in on AI? Well, most importantly, because AI is already reshaping how we create content, personalize experiences, and build websites. If CMSs don’t evolve and adapt to meet these new demands, they risk becoming obsolete.
By making AI a core part of Drupal in a privacy-first, modular, and fully open way, we can help developers and teams leverage AI's potential. This isn’t about jumping on the hype train; it’s about making AI accessible, useful, and ethical in open source.
At amazee.io, we’re not just cheering from the sidelines, we’re actively involved. Here’s how we’re supporting the Strategic Drupal AI Initiative:
So what’s our end goal?
A Drupal that ships with optional AI capabilities out of the box, with a growing library of use cases, plugins, and providers, just like WYSIWYG editors or media libraries did in the past.
But we can’t do this alone. If you’re a developer, designer, site builder, agency, or just curious about the future of CMS, here are a few ways that you can get involved:
This is your invitation. Let’s build a smarter, more open web - together.
