A personal update from Franz on stepping back from his role as CEO of amazee.io

A personal update from Franz

Hi amazee’ng people,

Five years ago, I decided to join a fully remote team with the vision of disrupting the hosting industry—disruption led by developers for developers. I saw the potential of what they were building in the open source community and the benefits for global organizations, which was incredibly exciting. After an intense vetting process from both sides, I joined the team—a decision I would never regret.

Over these last years, we have matured as an organization. Today, our customer obsession and customer-centric approach are even deeper engraved in our amazee.io-DNA, allowing us to provide a robust, secure, scalable hosting platform and services. We have increased our customer base and strategically partnered globally with large enterprises and governments. Together, we “mastered” a global pandemic where we experienced unseen traffic spikes on the platform without significant interruptions - allowing citizens to consume the information they were seeking during uncertain times.

We launched our very own agency partner program, allowing us to provide end-to-end services to all customers. Today, we work with 25+ leading digital agencies in all geo-locations, providing best-in-class services.

We have strengthened the relationship with our core infrastructure partners like AWS and have been recognized by them with three competencies: DevOps, Migration and Modernization, and Government in the last 15 months alone. Expanding our technology partner ecosystem allows us to offer a broader spectrum of services, satisfying the demand and increasing the digital experience. This aligns with our purpose to “help people and organizations share their stories, information, and services with the world.”  A big “Thank you” to our outstanding customers and partners. Your loyalty means a lot to us, and your continuous feedback helps fuel our innovations.

Internally, we have doubled down on transparency, visibility, and structure—today, we are ISO27001 and SOC 2 Type II certified. In addition, the company-wide introduction of OKRs redefined the way we operate and measure our success.

Today, after nearly five years at amazee.io, I’ve decided to step back from my role as CEO and start a new chapter outside of the hosting industry.

The time is right for me, and I can do this because we have an incredible management team in place. Michael, our co-founder and CTO, will lead the company into the next phase with a renewed vision and energy. He will be supported by his superb management colleagues Inky, Toby, and Martin. All four of them have a wonderful sense for our product, our business, our purpose, our communities, and our employees.

Being part of a fully remote company like amazee.io has been an exceptional experience, but I’m most proud of the culture we’ve built. In a world that seems to be drifting further apart and feels more divided than ever, we’ve proven that trust, collaboration, and shared values can create a team that feels united, no matter the distance.

I’m confident that amazee.io will continue to thrive. The company is in excellent hands, and I’ll be cheering you on, knowing your incredible accomplishments.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege to lead this remarkable organization. It’s been an experience I’ll cherish forever.
