Monday, 16 October 2023 – Lille Grand Palais, France
Join us on October 16th, 2023, the day before the start of DrupalCon Lille, for a half-day of technical talks, best practices, and demos about the latest innovations on decoupled, headless, open source, Drupal, and composable web covering application development, deployment, and infrastructure options.
Who should attend?
CTOs, Developers, Site Builders, Project Managers, and Product Owners – anyone looking to learn more about building applications that leverage decoupled and composable architectures and the benefits this approach can provide.
Join us in celebrating the art of architectural transformation as we embark on a journey to break free from constraints and unlock the boundless potential of composable solutions. In the ever-evolving world of technology, there's a massive shift underway—one that's redefining how this affects the IT landscape. This shift revolves around the transition from monolithic systems, with their inherent limitations, to a new paradigm marked by agility, scalability, and the efficiency of composable architectures.
In this presentation, we invite you to explore the driving forces behind this transformation, offering valuable insights into how embracing composability can reshape your digital landscape. Through strategic partnerships and innovative approaches, we're pushing the boundaries of what's possible, ensuring your organization is poised for success in this era of rapid change.
The Decoupled Toolbox was born from extensive (and often challenging) experience with Drupal's headless capabilities. After exploring various available options (GraphQL, JSON API, REST API, Views, custom code...), we decided to create a new module.
In this presentation, we will explain why we decided to create a new module, its paradigms, and how it will:
With a quick demo, we will illustrate how easy it becomes to build a reading API for a decoupled system and discuss what still needs to be done to take it further.
Decoupled Drupal is far from outdated. The first implementations of this paradigm were already in place a decade ago, leveraging Drupal 6 and Flash.
Today, Drupal 10 and JSON:API with Next.js on the frontend have become one of the de facto standards for this type of architecture.
This session will briefly describe the core principles of a Decoupled Drupal architecture. It will then discuss how and why this approach leads to better performance, resulting in improved user experience, enhanced SEO, and increased security.
We'll learn that this method can actually reduce hosting costs and security burdens. We'll also showcase an example of a high-profile, politically exposed website that we have recently launched.
Modern CMOs navigate pivotal marketing technology choices impacting immediate and future business trajectories. Composable business models and open web concepts enable data ownership, allowing the integration of diverse tools to construct a bespoke DXP tailored to your enterprise needs. You can forge unique and flexible solutions by starting with adaptable hosting and ascending the stack with a blend of open source and proprietary tools. Speed and agility in leveraging these technologies are crucial for companies aiming to thrive in today’s digital landscape, ensuring they stay relevant and competitive.
Unit testing your code is a practice every project should have, right? But are all developers happy with writing them? Especially for our Drupal with its services and entities?
So, to simply cover your short function with 5 lines of business logic by unit tests, you should produce 10 times more code lines!
Stop doing this! Use the force of Test Helpers, Luke!
I will teach how you can get rid of tons of mocks in your unit tests, and create a stub of any entity or service just via a single line of code.
Caution: This module may be habit-forming. You may love writing unit tests! Follow your doctor's instructions carefully, and do not exceed the recommended dose or duration of use.
Composability is changing the Web, not only how we build websites, but also how we use them. API first for example allows companies to build decoupled frontends, but also a smartphone app with the same content without the need to copy any content.
The next evolution of the web is already knocking at the door: AI.
In this session, I want to show how AI can change the web once more – what new things are possible, and how websites are built and used. The best of it: building a website in a composable way is the first step! We are also going to look at the challenges and possible risks of these new technologies. Plus actual knowledge of how this can be used today already.
